I like how they brought out the best in each other (even if that freaked Jackson out). Here, Jackson has experience, but not quantity. (He *makes* the “blah blah” sequence.) Their experience levels are kind of a twist on common themes I tend to run across more books where the top has had way more partners than the bottom.

Narrator Michael Pauley does a really great job on this one. The opening meet-cute is sooooo cute and Derek’s dialogue is so snappy, that it’s fun to hear it again.

I’ve come back to the book more than once. This was frustrating on the first read, but does actually make sense, and feels more correct on the re-read. Because unlike what one might expect from Derek, if one has read the previous books in the series, it takes them most of the book before they get their groove on. On my first read/listen thru the series, I think I would have rated this installment a 4. Derek and Jackson must find the common ground between hookup and commitment - if they can't own their issues and work together to overcome their faults, they could smother the flame between them that's just beginning to ignite. And Jackson needs to figure out the balance between living for himself and the mountain of responsibilities weighing him down. He wants the real Derek, not just the sassy jokester everyone else sees. Jackson isn't interested in a meaningless hookup. But Derek loves a challenge, and he's eager to rock Jackson's world. And maybe because Jackson is the one person who sees him for who he really is. Maybe because no matter how many times he throws himself at him, Jackson doesn't take the bait. He's stubborn and controlling.and ever since Derek woke up in the silver fox's condo, he can't get Jackson out of his mind. And when Derek calls him daddy? Christ, he never thought something like that would feel so right.ĭerek has serious daddy issues, and his name is Jackson. Getting to know the wild, funny man is a breath of fresh air. But Derek is not as flighty as Jackson thought.he's actually pretty incredible. As far as Jackson's concerned, the boy should come with a warning label. The twink part he's good with, the drunk part.not so much. Just out of an 18-year marriage, the last thing Jackson expects the first time he visits a gay bar is for a sexy, drunk, 26-year-old twink to mistakenly climb into his Jeep.
